Happy Birthday Elder NeVille! 21?!

It was awesome to be able to talk and Skype you guys it made me miss home even more!  Its crazy that I will be 21 I feel that the mission has changed me so much!  For New Year's Eve we have to be home by 7:30pm and then we are going to play games with the family that we are living with so that will be fun! It's going to be different not being able to spend my birthday with you guys!
(So happy to be able to talk and see Logan...just really hard to say goodbye.)

Christmas Dinner with the Ahlstroms Family.
The Ahlstroms are awesome people! We had Christmas dinner with them and they gave us a card and gave my companion and I $25 each for Christmas. They are so nice they are the ones who know the Graffs and I played football with Michael Graff in high school they are good friends with their family!

 Learning how to install insulation.
I was miserable this day my feet were freezing!  I miss the heat! LOL

I hope you all have a Happy New Year!

Just a few days tell Christmas...

(We got bunk beds and I get the top bunk! LOL)
This week was good we got a lot of work done! Saturday there was a baptism for a girl who was 8 and my companion and I were the witnesses to make sure that her whole body was wet! This was the investigators cousin who is 14 and ready to be baptized.  Our bishop is going to talk to her to schedule a day on when she would like to be baptized too! There is a girl named Kendra and she used to be an atheist and the previous missionaries taught her three lessons and want  to know more so we are going to try to visit her and maybe she will want to be baptized! I hope you are doing great! I cant wait to talk to you guys on Christmas I will probably get really emotional its not going to be easy not having Christmas with you guys I hope all is well I love you guys!

A week before Christmas...

I hope you all are doing great!  I'm enjoying Longmont and my companion is awesome!  He is 25 and will be 27 when he goes home! The family that we are staying with are super nice and their kid can talk a lot! lol  He would talk to us from 8pm to 11 pm but they are a very nice family. I was sick last week and it sucked and then my companion got sick.  Wednesday when I was sick we still got work done went over to the rec center and they had us help out next door with the seniors and helped clean up the tables and then we played games with them which was lot of fun.
Hunter is a 14 year old girl and is ready to be baptized.  She reminds me a lot about you, mom!  We had dinner at her house because as of right now she is living with her aunt and uncle.  I guess when she was little her parents killed themselves.  Her aunt and uncle are members of our ward.  We have about five more nonmembers who have been attending our Church for awhile, which is awesome!  This one guy his name is Matt Guiterez and he has been attending our ward for two years but is not a member but his wife is.  So we are going to try and visit him on Sunday and if he wants to get baptized I could have the possibility of dunking him in the baptismal font! lol
This area has been tough especially with all the suicides.  One of the teens was LDS and we went to the funeral.  It was so sad as his brothers and sisters talked and I lost it especially when his dad got up there.
I heard Nate and Ammon both were hurt and I hope they feel better and I can't wait to talk to you guys on Christmas!  Love you guys!

Second week in Longmont...

This week has been pretty busy!  We did some more service.  We cleaned a guy's gutters on the roof and it was scary but fun! We also did service for the Rec Center in Longmont and they let us work out there for free!  So that is nice!  Since last week we have been going there and working out! This is going to surprise you but I found out that I like Coconut Shrimp the family who fed us didn't ask us if we like seafood and I didn't want to be rude so I ate it and it was pretty good! Lol  The only thing I didn't like was the shrimp noodles because it’s so crunchy so I took fast bites so  that I wouldn't taste it!  lol :)

This week has been better I know I told you that there was 3 teen suicides within 3 weeks and we found out yesterday that another teenager tried to kill herself the day my companion and I came to Longmont! So I have been thinking a lot about what I want to do with my life and I know that I should be more focused on my mission and I am but ever since I came to Longmont hearing about the suicides it's made me think about wanting to become a Mental Health Counselor.  I know I still have a long ways to go but it’s kind of hard when I keep hearing about people killing themselves and the fact that I use to have depression. I think that would  make it easy for people if I can relate to what they are going through. So I'm not sure it might change but that's what I want to do as of right now but then again it might change! Lol  I hope you guys are doing great and I can’t wait to Skype and call you guys on Christmas you guys are always in my prayers!

(Ugh!  My heart hurts and it keeps getting harder to post but he is doing good things and I know this is what he needs to help him grow and that he is there for a reason.  We couldn’t be prouder of him...  But we sure do miss our Logan!)

Transferred to Longmont, Colorado…November 25, 2014

This week has been tough in this area as there has been 3 teen suicides in 3 weeks all of them went to the same high school and my companion and I are new to the area and the missionaries who served in this ward before us did not go to Church for two weeks because they got Et'd, which stands for emergency transferred.  So our dinner calendar has been empty this week but luckily our ward mission leader fed us on Wednesday night and so we had a family that we went to for Thanksgiving and they fed us good but it was really awkward! I was thankful we got a dinner though as our ward mission leader texted around and they said they would feed us so that was nice! The family we ate with was nice they were watching football so I got to watch a little bit of the Eagles and Cowboys game :)  The rest of the week we have been fending for ourselves.  My companion and I are very new to the area and we both got here the same day.  The members that we are staying with are out of town and we don’t know what their house rules are. Yikes!  It has been a tough week hopefully this week will go better! The area is way different than Loveland the members at my old house bought us food  but this house we have to buy our own!

Good news though! So there is this girl in our area who is 14 and wants to get baptized she has already had all the lessons taught to her and has been going to Church and lives with an LDS family so we are going to try to visit her and schedule a day that she would want to get baptized! This could be my very first baptism! And my companions first baptism as well!

The person who texted you last Wednesday night was actually my companions old member from last transfer and we helped her out Wednesday morning from 9 am to 4pm  and she asked us if she could take a picture of us and asked if we would like her to send it to our families so I gave her your number.  If President Brown found out that we did 8 hours of service we would have gotten chewed out for doing to much service its already happened to me  but if someone needs help were not going to tell them no so we did that for her and she had a lot of work that needed to be done!  My companion is 25 years old and has 2 semesters left at BYU and has been out for 4 and a half months so he’s a transfer ahead of me! My companion is suppose to be the driver but I'm the designated driver and he is senior companion. Lol He is the missionary wearing the shorts on the left and the missionary on the far right is awesome! He is from Samoa the Pacific Island! He is very funny and has learned how to speak English very well!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It is still freezing but not as bad as it was two weeks ago.  Just been windy the last couple days. Well I am getting transferred and going to Longmont, Colorado! My companion is going to Rawlins, Wyoming so we got swept out of our district! I'm leaving tomorrow morning! Everybody in our ward came up to us after we beared our testimonies and asked us where we were going and once my companion said Rawlins everybody said, "dang what did you do?"  Ha!  I guess Rawlins is the coldest part of Wyoming but they are getting apartments! I told people in the ward that I was going to Longmont and they said that I would love it! So excited but it sucks that we are both leaving our ward though! So I don't have any plans for Thanksgiving right now. I heard that my new companion has only been out for four months and that he is also getting transferred to Longmont so we both are going to be new to the area.  This will be interesting! Ha!

It's kind of hard to see but I'm standing on ice that froze over the pond and my companion and I were having a competition on who would walk farther than who without breaking the ice!  It was very fragile and barely held us but I won and nobody fell in! It was scary as the ice cracked a few times and my companion and I both freaked out but it was fun! Lol

Love you,
Elder NeVille

***Sorry this took a while to update.  It's been an emotional week as it's hard not to have Logan here for the holidays. And then to hear that he is being transferred two days before Thanksgiving it's tough...  Well Wednesday night as we were getting ready to sit down and eat Thanksgiving dinner with the NeVille's side of the family, I received a group text. Crazy! We received this picture and said, "Your sons/brothers helped us with demo at our new house.  I was very impressed with their strong work ethic! We are so blessed to have them in Colorado!"  I can truly testify that prayers are answered no matter how small.

Snow Day!

This is a picture of my zone, the Mission President and his wife, and Elder Baxter from the Quorum of the Seventy and his wife! They are from Scotland!

Tuesday the 25th is transfer day and one of us is probably leaving! So I'm not sure on what we are doing for Thanksgiving.  It's possible we will stay but I'm not sure but we should find out on Saturday if I'm leaving or staying and will find out who my companion is on next Monday!

My week was pretty good but it was a really cold week normally it doesn't get below 20 degrees in Loveland but Wednesday it was 1 degree and at night it was negative 6 degrees!  I guess in Laramie, Wyoming it was  negative 25!  So my companion and I stayed in the whole day until dinner on Wednesday because we are on bikes and it was way too cold! Nate told me it was 37 degrees this morning in Arizona and I said that that is hot! I wish it was that nice up here! I don't know if I would have been wearing a jacket if it was 37 degrees here right now as it would be so nice! This week is suppose to be warmer like in the 30s or 40s so that will be nice! LOL

The highlight of my week was on Thursday night.  This guy who is in his early 40s has diabetes and had a blood clot in his eyes and has to get dialysis! We went over to visit him with the bishop and gave him a blessing as he is temporary blind for right now.  He said that he will get his vision back! The bishop did the blessing and I did the anointing but it was nice visiting with him! His dad was there as well and he takes care of him.  His dad is not a member but he is and hasn't been at Church for a while.

And thank you for all the emails!

I hope you guys are doing well! Stay safe Love you!

Snowing already?! Yikes!

This is a pic of a member’s car in our ward.  They have a Jeep and an Audi.  It’s a nice car but my companion and I are still on bikes.

This week went good. We visited Jack (Vietnam Vet) again and it went better.  We were at his house for 3 hours! We were able to share a quick message with him but not a whole lesson as we are suppose to.  My companion read out of the book, Preach My Gospel, to him and just read a little section about how the gospel blesses families. I was upset because after my companion finished reading it and told him what it was talking about Jack somehow went onto another topic talking about how we all sin.   I thought now I can talk about the atonement with him but I didn't because he talks so much he doesn’t give you a break to let you cut in, it’s a talent and I left mad because I didn't get to share anything with him so we are not sure what we are going to do its really frustrating! Jacks a nice guy but just doesn't let you talk! Other than that though my week was great!  Apparently this is my last week of being trained and that since it’s my last week I become the senior companion so basically we get to do what I want to do like basically I'm training him so that should be neat!  I also heard that we might be getting our iPads this week!

Here's a pic of the Church program from a couple of weeks ago when I had to talk. :)

It’s snowing right now in Loveland. It’s 28 degrees and it doesn’t feel that cold outside and I guess on Wednesday the high is suppose to be 16 degrees and the low is suppose to be 3 so that day will be freezing!  So it looks like I'm getting my beanie at the right time! lol

My companion and I have been arguing because I keep telling him the Eagles are better than the Panthers! He is a Panthers fan so we’re looking forward to hearing who wins! Lol Well I hope you guys are staying safe I keep you guys in my prayers! Happy anniversary Mom and Dad I hope you guys have a fun trip! Love you!

Missionaries riding in a Limo???

My Halloween was not fun at all as we had to be home at 6pm and my companion and I had a trainers meeting the same day from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm so it was a very boring day!

There are three wards here in Loveland.  They are Mariana Butte, Lakeside, and Longview, which is the ward I'm in and Mariana Butte has two sets of missionaries in that ward.

Loveland right now is beautiful! Its pouring right now and there is like a 40% chance that it will snow later today! I didn't have time to shop last week so I don't have pictures yet but I will try today to get batteries for my camera!

Thursday was probably the highlight of my week, we had a district meeting and after that my district and I rented a limo.  We all paid $10 each and it was so fun as we rode in it for two hours! For my companions birthday we went over to our favorite ward family's house and they made him a cake and gave him presents so we celebrated it their which was real nice.  Then we went to Wendy's with other missionaries and I didn't get my companion anything so I just bought him lunch! My Vitamins are good I have been taking them everyday! :) Would it be OK if you could order me a Eagles Beanie and gloves its starting to get chilly and I checked with my companion and he said Beanies are OK for us to wear so will that be OK? (Amazon it is!)

Thank you! I pray for you guys every day love you!

Sharing his testimony...

I heard about the Eagles and Cardinals game!  I can’t believe Eagles blew it! I heard they were up by like 3 points then the quarterback threw a 75 yard td pass. It sounded like a really good game though I heard with 1 second left in the game they threw the ball in the touchdown and I heard he caught it but was out of bounds!

Right now the weather is perfect, it’s about 65 degrees right now.  It was 80 degrees yesterday and my companion was complaining how hot it was and I thought it was nice considering Arizona can go up to 120!  I do love the bike it is a lot better than the tall bike where I could barely reach the pedals so I love it! LOL

I don't know how it works for Christmas on calling you guys. My companion doesn't know either as he came out in March.

I gave a talk yesterday in Church! I got asked to speak on Thursday and he just told me I had to talk for about 5 - 7 minutes just to share my testimony and some stories as he told me I didn't have a topic! It went good a lot of people came up to me saying they enjoyed my testimony! I tried to take a picture of me pointing at the program but my camera died so I don't have batteries right now but hopefully I will find some this week!

Wednesday my companion and I went on exchanges for dinner so I was with Elder Sharp and we walked to a pizza place called Arties it is really good!  As we were walking a man in his car called us over and said if we ever need a dinner to give him a call, he said he wasn’t a member but his nephews served missions and he said that he respects us for knocking on doors and getting them slammed in our face! LOL So we possibly might have found someone to teach! My companion and I visited Jack, the Vietnam Veteran, on Friday! He is doing better but his wife isn’t.  He talked to us for about 3 hours, my companion and I are getting frustrated because we haven’t been able to get a lesson in with him and we’re trying to figure out how to do that! Ha ha! We did invite him to Church though and he said thank you but he can’t because he has to stay home and watch his wife because he has to be there in case she falls! We walked 6 miles on Friday, my companion and I almost had did 8 but we asked for a ride home from a member that we had dinner with! Saturday was tough these people in our ward are moving today and we spent 5 hours putting and moving heavy objects in their pickup truck. My arms were dead the next day! LOL

Well I hope you guys are doing well!  Today is my companion’s birthday he just turned 19! Love you guys I will find out more about Christmas!

Two month mark!

Today is my two month mark! I can't believe that I've already been out for two months! :)  Today we are going to play basketball then go to dinner right after with our favorite family they love us over there. This week has been good nothing crazy really happened this week, I will most likely stay in Loveland for one more transfer my companion said that your first area is normally three transfers! I do have the same companion! The people we are staying with are really nice its the same members they have been housing missionaries for awhile now! I haven't seen any more mean people lately! The bike is great and I actually didn't take it to the bike shop I put it together with a little help from my companion  and its a lot better than the bike I had before so thank you so much I love it! I haven't had any accidents yet! It isn't that cold here yet as Friday was like in the low 40s and today is in the high 70s.
Last week we helped someone move, we helped another person with their yard racking leaves and crab apples,  and helped out at a store called Habitat that is like a Good Will! We also helped a lady move her furniture!  No new investigators yet but we do have a few potentials we are going to try to visit.  The people we did service for last week weren't members and they said they will let us give them a message but we don't know their address yet.  We will get it from a member tonight who we are having dinner with.
Last Monday night, two of the missionaries who are companions were fighting and just weren't getting a long so my companion and I went on exchanges with them (to help separate them for awhile) and one of the Elders that I was with was telling me how he has been struggling and how he hasn't felt the Spirit for a long time.  Well we were at dinner with members from his ward so he shared the message and it was about the importance of reading your scriptures and praying and I shared my experience after he shared the message and why it's important.  After we left the Elder came up to me and told me that that was awesome and it had been so long that he had felt the Spirit but that he felt it when we shared that message and it just made me so emotional as Heavenly Father answered his prayers and mine and we left dinner feeling the Spirit it was a great feeling!

Teaching by the Spirit...

So my picture I'm kind of squinting as the flash was on. :)
Today is supposed to be pretty busy as it is transfer day.  I am still staying in Loveland for at least another six weeks.  My companion and I didn’t go to Church yesterday because my companion tweaked his leg from wrestling with another missionary and wasn’t able to walk!
On Tuesday we did service for that lady that I was telling you about last week.  She moved and is not in our area anymore so we referred her to the other missionaries that are in her area.
Thursday was an awesome day! We had our last district meeting for this transfer and the district leader asked if I could do the training!  It was my first training and it went great!  The training I gave was about how to be in tune with the Spirit and to teach people with the Spirit and not by memorizing the lessons.  The training had to be at least 15 minutes long and mine went on for 30 minutes!  After the district meeting (which was about an hour later) I received a text from the district leader and he said that I did an awesome job and that Elder Carter just demonstrated on how to listen to the Spirit and to pay attention to investigators and not to be thinking of what to say but to listen to them.  Anyways, my training helped this Elder and district leader find an investigator and they said that the investigator wanted to take more discussions!  Elder Carter has been out as long as me and its crazy how much of an impact my training was for him!  So I guess I am kind of changing people’s lives even though they aren’t in my area it is so awesome!
Love you guys!

A Map? No GPS?

Hi sorry I don't have any photos but I'll try to take some pics this week. I got a haircut from a lady in our ward and she did an awesome job cutting my hair! This week was hard but good at the same time...
On Thursday my companion and I went on exchanges in the afternoon and he wanted me to visit people and I didn't really know how to get there as I didn't have a gps so me and my district leaders companion were companions for the day and we ended up getting lost. We were walking and this lady comes up to me and asked if we could do service for her tomorrow morning. She is not a member and I was just surprised that this lady found us, so she could possibly be an investigator! She told us that she prayed that someone would help her and next thing we were walking on the sidewalk in her neighborhood. The Lord put me there for a reason so I wonder if she would like to start taking the lessons. After talking to her we ended up finding the houses my companion wanted me to visit and it went ok.  I'm not really great at reading maps but I didn't have that many problems.
Some people are really rude! I just got done telling Ammon that on Friday we got called "stupid Mormons" and a lot of people say "hail Satan" a lot to us.  Its crazy I know that my faith has definitely increased since I have been out serving a mission!
Yesterday was awesome as well this random person called us and asked if she could have a Book of Mormon and she isn't in our ward or anything so we might have 3 investigators! Jack our investigator wasn't feeling that great we went to his house on Friday, his wife was really sick and had nurses at his house so this was not a good week for him so we said we will call him this week if there is a day that we can visit.
I haven't had any accidents yet and I haven't seen anymore snakes lately. LOL Thank you for the packages it will make biking easier with a backpack. I hate biking but it keeps me in shape I feel like I can eat whatever I want and not gain anything I weigh 163 still so its nice that keeps me in shape I don't want to be in a car! I think I'm going to need a new bike to be honest I'm using our members bike because my bike has a hole in the tire still haven't been able to go to the store last week because my companion and I did service last "P" day from 10am to 5pm.
General Conference was good I fell asleep on a few talks, they did something new though they made a few speakers speak in their native tongue which I thought was pretty neat! On Saturday, the first session we watched at the Church, then we watched it at our members house. Sunday we watched Conference at a less active members house and watched all sessions there.
Today, I believe we are going to go shopping as we already did laundry, and then I think we are going to the stake center to play basketball or soccer.
My shoulders are good so far, I just worry when I go down hill that I will fall off and land on my shoulders. One of the Elders, 6 months ago, was in Cheyenne in the winter and fell off his bike the roads are suppose to be icy and I just hope I don't transfer to there and Laramie Wyoming as well.  I hope all is well and thankful for everything you guys do for me! Love you!

Found a Snake! Hissssssss...

Happy Monday!  We found a snake on Thursday on the way to dinner, it bit my companion but it had no teeth!  I have only seen two snakes so far. I fell off my bike 3 times this week as I was riding my bike over the train tracks and I flipped off of it.  The train was starting to come but they saw me and were able to stop.  My tire got stuck in the gap and it wasn't fun as I had to pay $165 because my chain broke and the front part of my bike was bent so I had to get that fixed and now my bike has a hole in it so I have to buy a mesh kit sometime and fix it, I don't really like this bike! I also fell off yesterday going to dinner it was raining so hard my grip on my bike came off and I fell off again so this was kind of a tough week. Yeah, I hate this bike to be honest as the bike seat is a little high and won’t go down.  My companion said I probably need a kid’s bike! LOL And yes biking sucks but then it’s kind of nice because it keeps me in shape!  I am writing to you guys this early (6am) because we have to help someone move today at 10am and we don't know how long that will take so I am using the member’s computer.

This week has been just a service week as we had about 16-20 hours of service and they said we are only suppose to do 4 but our members and this other ward needed our help a lot. The Vietnam vet is going okay I guess, he doesn't really let us talk that much so my companion and I made a goal to teach him a lesson sometime this week and just take control of the conversation! :) We were talking to a member at church and he said we should start teaching a lady he knows the lessons, we are going to ask bishop first because last time the missionaries taught her she said yes to being baptized and never was. She only said yes so people can take her to places so she was using the Church. Well last week has been interesting and hard hopefully this week will be better!

Here's a pic taken yesterday. I need a haircut and have an appointment tomorrow with a person in our ward. It'll be my first haircut since I've been on my mission. Lol ✂️

Love you and miss you guys!

It's "P" Day!

This week has been probably the best and most spiritual week I have had so far in the mission! So on Tuesday I went on exchanges with other missionaries until that afternoon like around 3pm and so I was staying at another members house for Monday night.  The next day (Tuesday morning) I didn't eat any breakfast and I was starving!  But I didn't think it was right to eat their food and we weren't staying there very long so I just decided to fast for the day. After dinner on Tuesday night, my companion and I were walking to visit people that were referred to us by members in our ward and they weren't members. So my companion and I were walking and a guy in a SUV pulls up to us and my companion said its okay we don't need a ride its not that far. Well the man in the SUV said no I want to talk to you guys so we got in the SUV and he wanted to know more about our Church! So we currently have 1 investigator as of right now but he is a Vietnam Vet and has a lot of stories to tell us so we haven't had that much opportunities to talk to him because he does most of the talking, he is a very nice guy! A member in our ward gave him a Book of Mormon and so he has been trying to work with him as well and this guy is very interested to know more. We visited him on Wednesday and he talked to us for 2 hours, his name is Jack Lesmeister!  I have been praying to Heavenly Father to help us find someone to teach or wanting to know more, and he really does answer our prayers!

Yesterday, was crazy too! This lady called us to ask us to give her a blessing she has really bad anxiety. She is too scared to drive and its been about a year and a half since she has driven. We were going to give her a blessing and my companion asked her for her full name and she only gave us her first and last name and she didn't want to say her middle name because she hated it and wanted to change it to Khehani (a Hawaiian name I guess)  but she ended up telling us her middle name and we gave her the blessing. :)

Yes mom, I am staying healthy and yes I'm taking my vitamins. LOL  I haven't taken anymore pics but I will and send them to you. I love you and miss you guys!

Happy Monday...

Mission President and his wife with Logan

Hi! I am doing good, no investigators yet!  But maybe soon though as we had dinner with members from the ward and they gave us a referral to talk to someone and they said they might be interested!  We go tracting but not as much as I thought I would.  My companion said it's not really effective so we have been working with members to find investigators.  My companion also said that he had baptisms in his last area and he always has no luck finding investigators when knocking on doors.  Plus the Mission President recommends doing that last as he wants us to work with members first.  Yesterday, we had an interesting conversation with an old man walking back home, my companion and I got pretty upset.  He asked us if we were Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses and we said that we were Mormon and he kept saying move along and said that Joseph Smith is an (bad word) and then said that he only believes in the one book not 3 (talking about Pearl of Great Price, D&C, and the Book of Mormon).  He was irritating and he honestly kept shoo-wing us away, like I don't know it's hard to not argue with people about stuff like this especially with someone like that so we just kept on walking! Anyways, the weather up here is nice like 70s and 80s except on Friday it was in the low 40s.  It actually snowed but it was at night and it wasn't a lot but it was so nice!  The shopping up here is good!  The members we stay with go grocery shopping and let us heat up like microwaveables so I haven't cooked yet but they are really nice and we haven't had to spend too much money yet!  The foods good here too as yesterday we had Elk, mostly we are fed meat it seems lately, we also went to the Golden Corral, which a family took us to.  We also had Chinese food for lunch and the place is called Bamboo Express it's like Panda Express but you can get the same amount of food for only $5 and it's better!  Thank you for sending the consecrated oil.  I had the chance to be able to use it yesterday because a lady at the retirement home was sick and we bring the sacrament to her but I had left the oil at the house!  So we are going to visit her tomorrow!  I'm good for now, you don't have to send me anything right now.  I miss you guys and I loved going to Village Inn! :)

Logan is now in Loveland, Colorado

Logan at the library in Loveland, Colorado
Logan's companion and his old trainer on the left
"this is my companion, he is 18 and he has been out for 6 months!"

Colorado is so beautiful! I love this weather! My companion is huge like muscle wise he is 6'3! We are in a bike area and I'm serving in Loveland, Colorado. I guess we did have a car but someone wrecked it so we had to give up ours.  But I am glad because the bike and walking is going to keep me in shape. LOL  My companion doesn't like to ride his bike so we walk a lot instead. Someone actually left their bike at the stake center and they said that I could take it.  So all I had to buy was a helmet!

The other day was kind of cool as we walked for two hours and knocked on houses.  At one of the houses a car pulled up and a lady gets out of her car and asked us if we could say a prayer with her because she was struggling and was leaving to Salt Lake.  So we did! She is not a member and just saw us walking and asked us to pray for her!

So far it's been nice here.  We haven't found any investigators yet.  I got to meet Quentin Cook, from the Quorum of the Twelve on Saturday!  He spoke to us!  I didn't get a picture but I did shake his hand!

We had a ride to the Stake center and we decided to just eat lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings and there was about 50 missionaries there! The picture below is Weston's cousin! Elder Blackburn said that he lifted weights with Nathan.

Quentin Cook basically talked about mission stuff and he told us to always believe Polynesian dreams because they actually come true! LOL He was saying that he was serving in that area and this Polynesian kid got his mission call and waited to open it and his mom said I already know where you are going, she said you're going to the United States. Then the dad cuts in and says no he is not, I had a dream as well and I saw a Japanese man, he said he is going to japan. So the kid then opens up his call and he was called to Washington DC but his mission President was Japanese so they were both right it was crazy!
My companion and I are doing great! We almost got hit walking across the road on Friday and we had the right of way but the guy turned into us as we were walking anyways good thing we stopped or we could've gotten hit. The guy seemed to care more about his turn than our lives!   (he shouldn't tell me these things)

So Mondays are our P- Days. We do laundry and we get to email at the library for 2 hours. We basically can do pretty much anything except watch TV, but we have free time till 6 pm and on regular days we just study, visit those who are less active in the Church, visit the ward mission leader, and eat at families houses.  We haven't been able to do too much tracking, which is knocking on peoples doors,  but we've been pretty busy though.  Yesterday, we gave the sacrament to people who couldn't attend church it was only 2 people but still pretty neat!

Last day at the MTC...

Logan and his District

It has been better at the MTC! I got to do a priesthood blessing for the first time! Some of the people in my district were leaving today so we all got to do one and I never gave one before. The sister I gave it to said she really thought I did a great job! The Spirit was definitely there with me! I lost 2 pounds the whole two weeks I've been here as the food here just isn't as great, so I'm not able to eat that much. Yes, I've been eating I was surprised as I was 165 when I got here and I'm 163 even with the food you sent me!  But one of the Elders who I bunk with gained 9 pounds in one week it was crazy! He is the kid who we saw his name in the booklet that I signed also at Pomeroy's. He is from Joseph City and he is a great guy.  He will be a great missionary! I love my district, they really feel like family.  It's crazy that I leave tomorrow I cant wait! Yesterday I got called up to talk about repentance in Church and I didn't have anything written down and I just talked about it and it actually went really well!  Well everyone said they enjoyed it!  There is still a possibility I could be speaking a different language on my mission. In Greeley, Colorado if I get transferred to that area, it's a Spanish speaking mission in some parts of Greeley so I could be speaking Spanish. My teacher said he served in Colorado and he said even if you are called to speak English you could end up learning a different language in some part of your mission area, so I hope that happens, I think it would be awesome!  I'm so excited I leave tomorrow early morning, my plane leaves at like 8:30 am, they said I will be able to call you at the airport! I was told they said it was ok while I'm waiting for my flight, I got a calling card so I will call you guys at maybe 6 or 7 depending on what time I get there. I also heard that I might have to buy an IPAD for my mission which I keep after, Idk that's what I heard and I'm going to get a nice camera to so I can send you guys pictures, I hate asking for money but I might need it. If I need to buy an IPAD or a bike, Idk if I will need to yet I'll let you know more about it! Thank you for sending me the packages my roommates loved it! I hope you guys are doing well! Love you!

We got mail! Whoo hoo!

How cute is that?!

So it's been a week since we said goodbye to Logan.  We have been checking the mail every day hoping to hear from him.  I found out that the missionaries at the MTC (Mission Training Center) have different "P" days (Preparation Days).  Preparation day (or P Day as it is often referred to) is a missionary’s once a week chance to do big shopping trips, play sports, do laundry and write letters home to family and friends.  Preparation day is the one day a week in which Mormon missionaries get a break from their usual proselytizing labors.  It is called preparation day because it is designed to help missionaries prepare physically for the week ahead.  So Logan's "P" day is today and we were able to message back and forth!

Here are his responses:

Today is my P day! I was so happy that Byron picked me up! I love it up here the weather is nice! I leave on Tuesday to Colorado Sept 2nd! I miss you guys as well these last few days were really hard I've been having a rough time lately. Yesterday was the most incredible experience for me since I've been here I never felt the spirit so strong in my entire life! This sister missionary who's in my district asked for a blessing at random during study time, her name is Sister Steimle. Elder Pitt, who is also in my district, gave the blessing, he never did it before but when he said the blessing I knew it was the spirit directing him.  It was a great blessing! After the blessing, Sister Steimle told us she was having a rough time yesterday because it was the one year anniversary of her best friend who died in a car accident. Well after she said that I told her that I knew what she was going through and told her the story about Christopher Brewer.  It was so hard listening to her speak about her best friend. She was so thankful that I shared that with her, I could really feel the spirit. I do love it up here even though I'm struggling I'm trying my best to have a better attitude. I also want to say thank you for the package.  I wrote all of you guys yesterday that book you got me is so helpful! I'm very thankful and thank you for pushing me to go on a mission
I love you guys!

Love,
Elder NeVille

*****So after receiving that I instantly wrote back hoping I didn't miss him... (I was starting to have a panic attack at my desk)
 His response:

I've been struggling with teaching the gospel to investigators and I'm trying so hard and everyday I feel that I get better and better each day. Yesterday, was great and I shared the story to dad just now. Its another long story but I have been doing better! This is so hard and some of these investigators don't give you the option to speak to them about the gospel its just so hard!

His message to Dad:

Hey Dad that's awesome! Today is my P day! I've been struggling a lot this past week. Yesterday, my companion, Elder Shenk, and I were getting ready to teach an investigator. Elder Shenk said lets teach him the plan of salvation and I said okay lets do that and we both didn't know too much about it when we got there. But when we spoke to Paul (the investigator) it was like I couldn't stop talking about it and I knew it was the spirit guiding me and helping me relax. I've been asking the Lord  for help every night that I will teach with the spirit  and to have a better knowledge of the gospel and the Lord answered my prayers! I got to go,  thank you for the package and tell grandma and grandpa thank you as well.  If you guys want to write to me you can, I can write everyday if I have enough time but I do get the mail everyday.
I love you!

Love,
Elder NeVille

August 17, 2014 - Logan's farewell talk...

It's crazy to see Logan's name on the program. Logan was nervous and working on his talk all week and Friday he received a phone call from the stake high councilman asking if he could also give his talk to not only our ward but to another ward which was at 11am (our church starts at 2pm).  It took a while for him to respond back but he replied back saying he would do it.  We thought this would be good practice for him as he won't know anyone and this will help prepare him to talk in front of his family and friends in our ward.  I was wrong...  As I listened to him give his talk I realized how wrong I was.  The Spirit was so strong and I know that he answered many prayers including my own. I knew then that I needed to "fear not" as Heavenly Father is and will guide him.  I am not sure how he will feel about this but I am going to copy and paste his talk on here:

Farewell Talk by Logan NeVille
Hello Brothers and Sisters, The topic I was asked to speak about was a talk that was given by Jean A. Stevens “fear not: I ‘am with thee. In her talk she says that by increasing our faith in the Lord, the lord will help us overcome challenges in our life and help us find peace. A challenge that I am faced with is speaking in public.  Not too long ago Bishop began asking people in sacrament to bear their testimonies.
People who were supposed to speak that Sunday didn’t show up to church and this was Bishops plan B. As I am hearing people’s names being called, Bishop says Logan NeVille.  My first reaction was to get up and leave as fast as I could.  I think my parents would have tackled me. So as I sat waiting for my turn to speak I said a quick prayer, the next thing I know it is my turn to speak. As I started speaking I felt the spirit come over me and suddenly I was calm.
It was then that I realized and knew that the Lord was by my side. The Lord says “Fear not I’ am with thee be not dismayed for I ‘am thy god, I will help thee, yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of righteousness.” I know that the Lord will bless us in so many ways.   Brothers and Sisters if we continue to have faith and follow him and live righteously the Lord will truly bless us and will always be by our side.
I know as I’m serving in the Fort Collins Colorado Mission the Lord will help me and will always be by my side.  I’m very thankful for the opportunity to be able to serve the Lord. There has been a few times in my life that I didn’t want to go on a mission, I had other plans.  I wanted to go to school, work, or even join the military; serving a mission was the not even on my mind until I tried joining the military. I wanted to enlist into the Navy.  A requirement to enlist in the military is to pass a test called the ASVAB.  This test covers several different topics and subjects.
My recruiter had me take several practice tests that I would do fine on.  But every time I went to take the actual test I would get a failing score.  When a person fails the ASVAB they can re-take the test 3 times and then must wait 6 months to take it again.  After failing it twice I was determined to pass the 3rd time.  I did not want to have to wait 6 months.  The recruiter suggested a tutor to help prepare me for the test.  I hired him and used all of my money to pay for weekly study sessions.  I was tutored for 2 months.  At this time my tutor was pleased and assured me that the 3rd time would be the time I would pass with a good score.
About a week later I was taking this test for a third time.  I prayed to Heavenly Father to please help me in passing this test.  I thought for sure my prayers would be answered.  And then I found out that I failed again for a 3rd time by barely missing the passing score. I didn’t know why I could not pass this test, and then I realized that the Lord had a different plan for me.  He did not want me to join the military but to serve a mission. Looking back at this experience I’m very thankful that I did not pass and that I am getting the opportunity to preach the gospel to the people of Ft Collins Colorado.
In a talk that was given by Elder Bednar he said, “As we exercise faith In Christ and trust in his promises, we can walk in the dark with the absolute assurance that our pathway will be illuminated at least as far enough to take the next step, and then the next step, and the next step.” By having faith in Christ he will guide us down the right path.  Christ will be by our side always and I know if we keep our faith in the Lord, he will help with our fears. I still have a tremendous fear of speaking in public, although it is not as terrifying as it once was.  I know this is because I started to prepare to go on a mission.
Heavenly Father reaches out to each of us with his Love and compassion; he wants us to be able to return to his presence and live with him for eternity. In Doctrine and Covenants section 84 verse 88 it says “And whoso receiveth you there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my spirit shall be in your hearts and my angels round about you, to bear you up.” I love this scripture it reminds me that I will never be alone as long as I have faith in the Lord and that I should not be afraid because the Lord will be by my side in all I say and do.   As I was getting ready and preparing to speak today, I realized that I still had some fear.
I know that there is a lot of family and friends who are here today as well as teachers and coaches, this stressed me out.  I needed the Lords help so every day this week I would say a personal prayer hoping that these fears would go away and that I would deliver a good talk. Each day as I got closer to Sunday I became more and more confident that my talk would go smoothly.
I know that none of these examples that I used can even come close to comparing to what the Prophet Joseph Smith went through at the age of fourteen. He was a young boy attending different churches but was confused of which church he should join.  Joseph Smith wrote “So great were the confusions and strife among the different denominations, that it was impossible for a person young as I was to come to any certain conclusion who was right and who was wrong … In the midst of this war of words and tumult of opinions I often said to myself: what is to be done? Who of all these parties are right; or all they wrong together? If any one of them be right, which is it, and how shall I know it?” As a young boy Joseph Smith was afraid that he was going to join the wrong church.
In the spring of 1820 he went into a Sacred Grove got down on his knees and prayed. Joseph Smith describes his experience: “I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me… When the light rested upon me I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake to me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other, this is My Beloved Son. Hear Him! The two personages that Joseph Smith saw were Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ.
The savior told Joseph Smith to not join any of the churches.   They later called Joseph Smith to be a Prophet, where he would restore the fullness of the Gospel to earth.  Joseph Smiths faith in the church did not make many people happy; they would claim that he was a false prophet. They would persecute him, they tar and feathered him, and they even put him in jail for crimes he didn’t even commit.  Joseph Smith was shot by a mob while he was locked in jail, even though he was mistreated for his beliefs his faith remained strong in the church.
The Lord was always by his side because he never stopped having faith after all of the trials he went through he still was not afraid.  Joseph Smith did Gods work until the day he died.  I will always honor him because of his faith and devotion he had for our church he was a great missionary not complaining of the work that was required of him to do.
In a talk that was given by Quentin L. Cook he states “Live by faith and not by fear.” We will be less afraid if we continue to live by faith, but if we decide to not live by faith our fear will continue to grow.  In 1st Nephi chapter 20 it says “Behold I Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all of those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance”. As I’m getting ready to leave in three days for my mission, I know that the Lord will help me strengthen the people of FT Collins Colorado testimonies and that they will know that the gospel is true.  I believe that everything happens for a reason; seeing my fellow classmates go onto serve missions and even come home after serving for 2 years was tough to see.
But looking back I was not prepared to go.  I felt a change of heart and now that I have changed I feel that I’ve never been more ready to serve a mission.  I know that the Lord will bless me out in the field and that he will watch over me as I am preaching the Gospel to the people of FT Collins Colorado.
